Garnet: For nurturing deep and selfless love, passion, and invoking the protection of the gods.
Garnets have ancient ties to the pomegranate as they were believed to resemble the seeds. When Hades abducted Persephone and took her to the underworld, she ate 6 pomegranate seeds thus tying her to land of the dead half of the year and the other 6 months to the land of the living. The pomegranate was also believed to be the fruit of the dead, having sprung from the blood of Adonis. Thus the pomegranate is seen as a symbol of unbending devotion, power, death, blood and passion. Garnets have been used in jewelry since ancient times and carry with them the power of the gods.
This deep, blood red garnet has the color of frozen raspberries. Photos don’t do it justice. This lovely piece is set in tarnished sterling silver on an 18 inch chain. A mysterious and romantic gem for everyday or special moments.
